All those silly games you play on Facebook, Google+, or wherever you find them

Friday Finds – Online Time Wasters

It’s Sunday night, and you have a big report due Monday morning.  Naturally, instead of working on it, you are online playing games.  You can admit it, we have all done it.  Even me… except for the report thing, thankfully I don’t have those.

Here are a few of the ways that I waste time when I’m online.

Pet Peeves About Online Games

As anyone who’s read this blog may have figured out, I play a lot of games.  I’m not necessarily good at them, but I play them.  And, like a lot of people, I have gotten into my fair share of online games.  In this case, I don’t mean World of Warcraft or the (sadly) defunct City of Heroes, I mean those annoying Facebook games that you start playing and can’t stop.  Either those, or the app games you download to your phone (or, in my case, iPod touch) and play.  And, I have had fun with a lot of these games, for a while, until I get bored or I get ticked off.  A lot of times, they just tick me off.

My 5 Favorite Races To Play in World of Warcraft

"World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade&q...As noted in an earlier blog, I am an Alt-aholic, meaning that I am addicted to creating alternate characters in MMO’s.  While I played just about all classes in City of Heroes (moment of silence, please), I do tend to favor certain races and classes in World of Warcraft.

4 Things To Add To World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft

Like the rest of the World of Warcraft community, I was up at 3 am (EDT) waiting for Mist of Pandaria.  I do have to admit, it was pandamonium (cue canned laughter for the bad spelling pun).  I was lagging with the newly created Panda monk, mostly because there were 17,000 Pandas running around all at 3am.  I was having more fun with the battle pets, though I think that most of that was because there was not the concentration of people all trying that.  I’m sure that the 90 gold cost to start may have been a hinderance, too.  But, playing the Pokemon style battle pets actually gave me greater incite as to why Ash had to catch them all.

But, in playing last night (especially during the lag moments in Pandaria), I got to thinking that there are some things that World of Warcraft should consider adding to their next big addition… whenever that may be.

A few weeks ago, I posted a list of the bonuses in the Facebook game Marvel: Avengers Alliance.  Since then, I have found a few new ones.  This list is nowhere near complete, so if you stumbled across one, let me know and I’ll throw it on the list.

I’m working on assembling (pardon the pun) a list of the bonuses in Marvel: Avengers Alliance.

At the moment, I have come across the following:

  • Fantastic – Fantastic Four members
  • Assemble – Avengers members
  • X-Force – X-Men members (revised: it appears this bonus works for all mutants since I received it with a Wolverine/Scarlet Witch combo)
  • Asgardians – Thor and Sif
  • Tossers – Heroes who throw things
  • Sibling Rivalry – Invisible Woman and Human Torch
  • Eggheads – Using Genius level heroes (example: Hulk and Mr. Fantastic)
  • Defenders – Members of the Defenders super-team (example: Hulk and Doctor Strange)
  • Quartermaster – Using a lot of items in a battle

Players, are there any others that you have stumbled across while gaming?

Is there a complete list of the bonus combinations available in Avengers Alliance?  I have run across Green Giants (Hulk/She-Hulk), tossers (which sounds bad, but is just characters who throw things), X-Force (X-Men characters) and one other who’s name I’m blanking on.

Marvel: Avengers Alliance – My Strategy

Marvel (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

In spite of my previous review of the Facebook game Marvel: Avengers Alliance, I have been pulled into the game.  I think that part of the reason is because I actually have a couple of other people who do play the game as well.  And I’m not talking about another account I run, but actual people.

Naturally, with any game like this, there is a certain degree of strategy involved.  Not a great amount, granted, because it is just a Facebook game, but I have been exercising some planning involved.
