Picks of the Week – March 19, 2014

2014-03-20 00.28.58It’s Wednesday, and the X-Wing player in me really lucked out.  My local comic shop, in addition to their usual Wednesday comics, got in a shipment of the Imperial Aces for Star Wars X-Wing.  Needless to say, I bought a set.

Now, onto this week’s picks.

Batman and Aquaman #29 (DC Comics) – Since the death of Robin, this title has turned into a revolving door of guest stars along the line of Brave and the Bold.  This issue, guest starring Aquaman (obviously) also kicks off the Hunt for Robin story arc.  Ra’s al Ghul has taken the bodies of Damien and Talia with Batman on his trail.  But what draws in the king of the seven seas, and how does it play into Ghul’s plans?

Batwoman #29 (DC Comics) – Batwoman’s hunt for Wolf Spider takes her deep into Arkham Asylum.  Can she stop Wolf Spider, or does he have an ace up his sleeve.

Ms. Marvel #2 (Marvel Comics) – Thanks to a strange mist, Kamala Khan finds herself with strange powers that she can barely control.  An interesting take on an origin story with a character that readers have not seen in comics before, this book is definitely worth a look.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 10 #1 (Dark Horse Comics) – The next season of Buffy begins as we are reintroduced to Buffy and the Scoobies.  But, now that magic has returned to the world, Buffy is seeing the strange after effects.  What happens when the rules have changed for vampires, making that much harder to kill?
