5 Games I Picked Up This Week

Recently, I have been getting into board and card games a lot more.  Something about the old school feel has pulled me in.  The end result is that I’ve been picking up a lot of games over the last few weeks.

These are just some of the games I picked up in the last week.

  1. GRAVWELL – The concept of this board game is simple.  You are a ship trying to escape a black hole.  You have six turns, and the one who gets out the furthest is the winner.  Movement is determined by playing cards from your hand.  But be careful, the card you play could lead you back into the singularity as much as it could lead you out.
  2. ONCE UPON A TIME – A storytelling game that has been featured on Wil Wheaton’s Youtube show, TableTop.  Players weave a story using cards from their hand, taking control if the current player says something that they have in their hand.
  3. ASCENSION: DARKNESS UNLEASHED – Another stand alone expansion in the Ascension series.  This particular expansion is more for Rise of Vigil than any of the others, introducing new cards and concepts to the deck building game.
  4. NIGHTFALL: MARTIAL LAW – Like Ascension: Darkness Unleashed, this is an expansion for the deck building game Nightfall that can stand on its own.  This expansion adds new cards to the vampire based deck builder.
  5. STAR WARS: THE CARD GAME – My first Living Card Game, and one that I am looking to try out since it is 2 player.
