Picks of the Week – December 11, 2013

It’s been a long while, but the picks are back.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD

Batgirl #26 (DC Comics) – It’s been a rough year for Batgirl.  She faced off against her psychotic brother, leading to a confrontation where it seemed like she killed him.  This issue wraps up the Wanted story line.  Batgirl is forced to protect her father, the man who has vowed to bring her to justice for killing his son.  Will he bring her in, or will she reveal the truth to her father?

Astro City #7 (DC Comics) – Winged Victory has always been a bit of a controversial figure in Busiek’s Astro City universe.  Now, it seems like she may be training super villains.  This issue acts as an origin issue for Winged Victory, and continues story lines that begun as far back as the very first Astro City series, while bringing together Busiek’s version of the DC Trinity.

Wolverine and the X-Men #39 (Marvel Comics) – Wolverine looks into the possibility that S.H.I.E.L.D. may still have active Sentinels.  Meanwhile, the operatives planted in the school begin to gather intel.
