5 Games For the Halloween Season

As the days in October tick closer to Halloween, you, and some friends, may be looking to get into the spirit of the season with a few games to play.  Here are five that I think are perfect for the season.

1) Fluxx

This is a card game designed to be played by 2 to 6 people.  Regular viewers of Wil Wheaton’s webshow TableTop may be familiar with the Fluxx variant Star Fluxx.  Well, the makers of Fluxx made other variants.  Two of these, Zombie Fluxx and Cthulhu Fluxx, are perfect for the holiday season.

2) Ghost Master

This is an older single player computer game that is great for the season.  You control an army of ghosts who have one mission, scare the bejeezus out of people.  You run through various missions, unlocking new ghosts along the way.

Silent Hill 2

3) Silent Hill series

This popular series for most game systems still sends chills down my spine.  The Silent Hill games are all connected by the titular town, a creepy nearly abandoned town covered in ash from an underground fire.  This place would be eerie enough, but players are often tossed into an alternate version that is much more frightening than the ghost town.

A little bit of trivia, the town of Silent Hill was inspired by an actual town in Pennsylvania.

Call of Cthulhu

4) Call of Cthulhu

A role-playing game based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft.  Players assume roles of investigators thrust into the frightening world of elder gods and montrous fiends.  The rule book often talks about investigators going insane from what they see.

Left 4 Dead - In The Alley

5) Left 4 Dead series

A first person shooter set in a world overrun by fast zombies, leaping hunters, long tongue smokers, and bulbous boomers.  Multiplayer and online games are available so it is possible to share the nightmare with your friends.
