Ah, That’s What It Is
Yesterday, I asked what the object in my picture was. Thanks to your replies (and one good stomp on one Tuesday), I have learned that this is a black walnut.
Apparently, we had one of these trees growing close to our yard and I had no idea. Well, technically, it’s growing in our neighbor’s yard, but all the nuts are dropping in our yard.
It also seems that these nuts can be harvested in late autumn, so I may look into trying to do something with them if our neighbor does not mind.
