Picks of the Week – July 24, 2013

July is winding down as the Northeast breaks its heat wave.  But, there is still a lot of heat in this week’s new comics.

Justice League Dark #22 (DC Comics) – The Trinity War crossover continues as battle lines are drawn.  However, they are not drawn the way you would think.  Plus, we learn the fate of Madam Xanadu, not seen since Justice League #22.  This week’s Constantine #5 also ties the events of this book, so definitely read this one first.

Doomsday.1 #3 (IDW) – John Byrne continues his exploration of a post doomsday war as our intrepid astronauts meet up with more survivors, a U.S. submarine trying to reach its home port of New London, Connecticut.  There is a brief excursion into the ruins of New York and signs of more survivors… of a sort.

The Rocketeer & The Spirit: Pulp Fiction #1 (DC Comics/IDW) – It’s an intercompany crossover as the Spirit heads west to investigate the death of a Central City alderman… in Los Angeles.  Along the way, he will need to question the woman who found the body, The Rocketeer’s girlfriend Betty.
