Picks of the The Week – May 22, 2013

As we take a moment to keep the victims of the tornadoes that hit Moore, Oklahoma, we also look ahead.  We have the holiday weekend before us, and we a new week of comics this Wednesday.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD

Green Lantern #20 (DC Comics) – First, let be state that I still get bugged when books ship out of order.  I know that it has happened, and will happened again, but it is still annoying when Green Lantern Corps #20 shipped two weeks ago, a book that is an epilogue to this one.

That said, this book, concluding the Wrath of the First Lantern story line in spectacular (and oversized) fashion, was worth the wait.  Corps converge as they face off against the First Lantern, and I mean Corps.  This book has it all, and is a truly fitting send off for departing writer Geoff Johns.  I want the four page spread as a poster.

Green Lantern New Guardians #20 (DC Comics) – In the wake of the finale of the Wrath of the First Lantern, Kyle Rayner finds himself back on Earth, exploring his abilities as a White Lantern along with Blue Lantern Walker Saint John.

Red Lanterns #20 (DC Comics) – This issue picks up after the events of Green Lantern #20.  Rankorr deals with his position as a Red Lantern while the other Red Lanterns wonder who should lead them.  And, will Atrocitus have the revenge against the Guardians he so desperately seeks?

Justice League #20 (DC Comics) – Despero attacks the Justice League, with only the newest members present.  Secrets are reveals throughout this issue, some that will have some long lasting ramifications.
