NaNoWriMo Day 20

Now comes the annoying part, waiting for the Validator to activate.

At the moment, my word count is 60,072, with the ending of my story still to come.

NaNoWriMo Day 19

One plot had come to a resolution, but there is still the orc invasion to deal with, as well as the aftermath.

At the moment, my word count is at 57,791, well above the 50,000 words needed for NaNoWriMo.  Unlike previous stories, this one is no where hear finished yet.

Well, it’s almost finished, but it will probably be my highest word count for a NaNoWriMo yet.

NaNoWriMo Day 18

The story is building towards his climax, and I realize there are more details, well, shocking revelations really, that need to come out.  The most shocking is why there have been no new shield dancers and song warriors born in the land.
Currently, my word count is at 54,806 words.

Saturday Songs – November 17, 2012

Dipping once more into the music of the National Novel Writing Month, this pick comes from my very first NaNoWriMo.

The story itself was fairly simple.  It was a man looking for his son.  It just happened that the man was also a demon hunter with a propensity for quote song lyrics.  It was probably the only NaNoWriMo that I wrote that had a song track.

This particular selection, Renegade by Styx, was picked because one of the lyrics was used when the hero of that NaNoWriMo thought he had been found (having faked his death so he could try and find his son).  The particular version of the song I picked to be features is from an encore at a concert in Chicago.

NaNoWriMo Day 16

Everything is falling into place in the story.  The dreaded secret of the scroll has been revealed, and the main villain has been tied not only to the kidnapping of the main female character’s mentor, but now to the parents of the main character.

In all of this, we still need to put the scroll into his hands, have a final battle between the hero and the villain, and stop the orc horde.

At the moment, by word count is 50,269, putting me over the NaNoWriMo 50,000 word count minimum.  But the story is far from over.

NaNoWriMo Day 15

The heroes have braved the perils of the Ice Plains (also known as the Land of Frozen Death) and have reached the gates of the armory of the song warriors.  Soon, everything will be tied together.

Finally, I know what the thirteenth scroll is, why the villain wants it, and how it ties in our heroes.  All of that will be revealed in the next few days as I build to the final conflict.

At the moment, the NaNoWriMo word count is at 46,838.

NaNoWriMo Dilemma resolved

I’ve figured it out.  I know what the thirteenth scroll holds, and it is a dozy.  It also ties together the events of the story a lot more.

NaNoWriMo Day 14

Our heroes have now reached the outskirts of the Ice Plains, nicknamed the Land of Frozen Death.  In seeking a pair of ice elves that were friends (such as that is) of the plains dwarf, they learned that the two ice elves are dead, or rather presumed dead in the Ice Plains.

Now they have to deal with their children.

I know it sounds like a broken record, but the contents of the thirteenth scroll are still a mystery.

Currently my word count is at 43,706.

NaNoWriMo Day 13

Everything is coming together.  The heroes have learned that there is actually a thirteenth scroll, the contents of which are so dreaded that it has been hidden away (and I still don’t know what’s written on the scroll… I really need to figure that out).  Now they must travel to an unforgiving land where no human has ever returned from on the hopes that they can find the weapons needed to fight the great evil.

All this and I saw Skyfall Monday.

Next on the list of things to do for the story is find names for a pair of ice elves that will assist the heroes in the unforgiving land, called by some the Land of Frozen Death.  That and maybe a few other names for other characters that will be working into the story.

Right now, my word count is at a whopping 41,038 words.  This is actually about the same pace as I had in 2011, (I was at roughly 30,000 words in 2010).

NaNoWriMo Day 12

A lot of interesting developments in my story today.   Our heroes have discovered that there was more going on behind what started the story going than what they knew.  Now, our heroes are aware of the search for the thirteenth scroll, even if they don’t know if it really exists.

Of course, I have no idea what this dreaded thirteenth scroll does.  I do know that it is not the romance novel Bedded By Her Lord, a copy of which was found in a scroll library (in scroll form, naturally).

At the moment, my word count is 37,805.  And it seems like this NaNoWriMo is not going to be one of those just a little over 50,000 words stories, so I have that working for me.
