Picks of the Week – June 27, 2012

Had one of those days?  Did it start bad and only get worse from there?

At least it’s Wednesday… new comic day.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD

Superman #10 (DC Comics) – Superman’s secret identity has been (wrongly) exposed as Spence Becker.  What happens when a powerful metahuman blaming Superman for destroying everything she cares for decides to destroy everything he cares for, namely Becker’s family?

Green Lantern: New Guardians #10 (DC Comics) – The Reach have invaded the homeworld of the Blue Lanterns.  Can they, and Kyle Raynor’s team of Lanterns, stop the invaders from destroying their battery, or is all hope lost? (sorry, could not resist that one)

I, Vampire #10 (DC Comics) – He had the best of intentions inviting the Van Helsings to meet with him, but Andrew Bennett soon learns that the ancient order of vampire hunters have no intention of talking peace.  And what exactly is the secret of the Anubis pendants they carry?

Batman, Incorporated #2 (DC Comics) – The secret history of Talia Al Ghul is revealed in this issue, from conception to her power play against her own father.

Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation Squared #2 (IDW) – The events that lead Riker, Data and Dr. Crusher to the holodeck are revealed, along with their eventual meeting with The Doctor, Amy and Rory.  But, things are not as they seem.  What has pulled the Doctor to the Enterprise?

Angel & Faith Season 9 #11 (Dark Horse Comics) – It’s a family reunion as Willow comes calling, seeking to restore magic.  There is only one problem.  To do so, she needs the help of Angel’s Son, Connor.

Star Trek #10 (IDW) – The Abrams-verse version of The Return of the Archons wraps up as Kirk and the Enterprise crew needs to figure out how to save the ship from Landru.  The story is pretty straight forward, but it is the last two pages, and Admiral Pike’s mysterious conversation that makes the issue.
