Picks of the Week – May 9, 2012
Big week for comics, so let’s just jump right in.
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD
Night of the Owls (DC Comics) – The Bat-family crossover continues with three issues this week. In Batman #9, the caped crusader battles the Owls deep in the Batcave. In Batgirl #9, Batgirl faces against a female Owl while Gotham is attacked from the air. Is the activation of the Bat-signal proof that the Owls have won? Meanwhile, Robin solos in Batman and Robin #9 as he protects a soldier from becoming the Owls next target.
Green Lantern #9 (DC Comics) – This is it, the secret origin of the Indigo Tribe. Who founded the Indigo Tribe, and why?
Suicide Squad #9/Resurrection Man #9 (DC Comics) – In this crossover, the Squad is sent to bring in Mitch Shelley. But, how exactly do you bring in a man who changes powers every time he dies?
Ultimate Comics X-Men #11 (Marvel Comics) – The Sentinels were meant to be America’s defense against mutants. Now, they have been turned against us. With the country under siege, it may be the mutants who will be America’s last defense.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 9 #9 (Dark Horse Comics) – If the Buffy we have been following since issue 1 is the Buffybot, where is the real Buffy?
Frankenstein Alive, Alive! #1 (IDW) – Steve Niles and Bernie Wrightson tell the story of the Frankenstein monster after the events of Mary Shelley’s classic novel (and Wrightson’s own version of this gothic tale). Featured in this issue is an interview with Wrightson, along with a serialization of Shelley’s original novel.
