Picks of the Week – May 2, 2012

It’s a new month, and with Free Comics Day rapidly approaching, it’s time to look at the regular picks for this week.

Dial H #1 (DC Comics) – Part of the second wave of the new 52.  Revamping the classic Dial H For Hero tales, this issue looks at what happens when the most unlikely of men becomes the newest of heroes.  This book takes a significantly darker turn than past incarnations.

Earth 2 #1 (DC Comics) – We take a turn through the multiverse as we take a new look at an old concept: that of Earth 2.  Defending the Earth from Darkseid’s parademons, Earth 2′s greatest heroes pay the ultimate price.  Who will rise to replace them?  This issue ties in directly to…

World’s Finest #1 (DC Comics) – Picks up after the events of Earth 2 #1.  Two women, lost in a world that is not their own, try to find their way.  this issue begins to explain how two classic “Earth 2″ characters (Huntress and Power Girl) find themselves in the world of the new 52.

Swamp Thing #9 (DC Comics) – It’s Swamp Thing versus the Queen of the Rot with Abby’s soul in the balance.  Can Alec Holland rescue the woman he loves from hero this horrific fate?

Ultimate Comics All-New Spider-Man #10 (Marvel Comics) – Miles faces off against his Uncle, The Prowler.  The question is, who’s side is the Prowler actually on?
