Picks of the Week – March 7, 2012
First Wednesday of the month, and a lot of changes. The biggest is that DC has started to use their new logo on their books. I do have to admit that I was not a fan of the new logo when it was unveiled. I found it mundane at best, and certainly not one that made me think Comics, or anything to that effect. Now, with this week, I have now seen the new logo on DC’s books.
I still hate it.
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD
Justice League International #7 (DC Comics) – We see the aftermath of last issue’s explosive finale as the team deals with the repercussions of the explosion. The team stands broken, literally, as they also mourn their losses. Can Booster Gold bring their attacker to justice, or will he need the help of a special guest star.
Swamp Thing #7 (DC Comics) – Alec Holland lies injured, pleading for the Parliament of Trees to help him. But can the Parliament, under attack themselves, help him, or are the even willing to help him? In short, can Alec Holland become the Swamp Thing once more?
Men of War #7 (DC Comics) – The primary story, George Saint, S.A.S., begins this issue. But it is the back up story of a vet dealing with life after the serving that stands out, harkening back to the stories of the original Men of War title.
Action Comics #7 (DC Comics) – Metropolis has been captured, and it is up to Superman to save them. Plus, Superman gets his new costume.
Night Force #1 (DC Comics) – Baron Winter returns as Night Force is reimagined for the New 52. This series crawls deeper into the shadows of the New 52 than any other title has.
Supurbia #1 (Boom! Studios) – Imagine what Desperate Housewives would be like if they had super powers. This is the premise of Supurbia, which focuses on the wives, husbands and children of the world’s premier super hero team.
