Picks of the Week -February 8th, 2012
One week before Valentine’s Day, and the comic companies are showing comic lovers a bit of love with this week’s releases.
WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD
Superboy #6 (DC Comics) – Picking up after the battle in Teen Titans, Superboy faces off against Supergirl. Will a fight with a full Kryptonian manage to turn Superboy away from N.O.W.H.E.R.E.?
Legion Lost #6 (DC Comics) – The time lost Legionnaires seek to rescue their captured teammates. But, what part does Stormwatch’s Martian Manhunter play, and what does he really want? Plus, the Legionnaires learn that possibly they can’t go home again.
Resurrection Man #6 (DC Comics) – My personal guilty pleasure finds Mitch Shelley imprisoned at Gotham’s Arkham Asylum. This book takes a dark turn as Shelley seeks to die to activate his powers in the midst of a prison break.
Suicide Squad #6 (DC Comics) – We look at the origin of Harley Quinn as the Squad is sent to recapture their rogue member. I dare anyone not to squirm when they learn the fate of one of their fallen members.
Batwoman #6 (DC Comics) – Batwoman steps out as a new agent of DEO while we catch up on the events that have passed since issue #5.
Green Lantern #6 (DC Comics) – Hal Jordan starts to accept life without a power ring. But, is Sinestro finished with the former Green Lantern yet?
Batgirl #6 (DC Comics) – Batman guest stars as Batgirl fights to protect Bruce Wayne from being assassinated while working through her own insecurities.
PunisherMax #22 (Marvel Comics) – Writer Jason Aaron and artist Steve Dillon close the story of the Punisher in this issue. All loose plot lines are tied up as the series ends as only the story of the Punisher could possibly end.
Wolverine and the X-Men #5 (Marvel Comics) – Attempts to fund the Jean Grey School have a bit of a set back, but Wolverine is not done yet. And, we learn the true nature of Kitty’s unexpected pregnancy, and the potential hazard it could pose to the school.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 9 #6 (Dark Horse Comics) – After learning last issue that she is pregnant, Buffy seeks out the son of a past slayer, Robin Wood for the story of his mother. This issue is sure to create a storm of controversy with how Buffy decides how to deal with her own unexpected pregnancy.
