The Worst Parts of the Holiday Season
I do have to admit I am not really a big fan of the Christmas season. At least, I am not a fan of the season as it stands right now. The problem I have with the season is that the message of the season, that of peace on earth and good will towards all mankind, is lost in an ocean of commercialism and senseless acquisition of stuff.
Case in point. On Black Friday (a concept that depresses me tremendously), a woman used pepper spray to make sure she got an XBox. This woman did not see that it was wrong to attack other people physically just so she could get a video game system that, let’s face it, is probably going to be upgraded to the next generation my March anyway.
Every time I hear about a story like that. Every time I hear about someone shooting someone else because the victim bought the last Hillshire Farms summer sausage box set, any of these atrocious acts, my Christmas spirit dies a little.
At this point, I should not have the Christmas spirit until sometime next decade.
