Friday Writing Update – September 23, 2011

I have not really done any editing work on any of my old writing projects.  That even includes the one nove that I had started to edit before.  I have continued to brain storm for this year’s NaNoWriMo project, gathering more and more ideas that will undoubtedly find their way into this year’s project once November starts.

My fiction blog has pretty much fallen apart.  Reading through past posts on it, I realize that I began to fall into the same trap that bugs me about most “zombie” stories as I focus less on the characters and more on the zombies.  I also began to find the “blog entry” style format a bit limiting.  If I try again When I try again, I think that it will be a bit more conventional in format, and probably not a zombie story.  I’ll probably cross that bridge after November.  Maybe I’ll take one of my old NaNoWriMo projects and posts chapters of that on here.

Zombies: A Love/Hate Relationship

The typical zombie.

I can’t say that I’m a big fan of the zombie genre.  But then, I can’t say that I am not either.

Today's Technology

I personally love it that I can carry almost all of my CDs on one device so that I do not have to worry about listening to crummy music on the radio ever again… unless I choose to listen to it.

DC’s new 52 continues to roll out, but there are a number of other titles out this week that should be considered as well.

A Beginner’s Guide to State Fairs

As I mentioned yesterday, I went to The Eastern States Exposition, or “The Big E” as it is familiarly known.  It was actually my first time I had ever gone to The Big E, and from that experience, I made a few observations (and picked up some tips from others) to make it through the fair.  While my observations are specific to The Big E, I don’t see why they could not be applied to any state fair.

Busy Day

It was a long day today.  I finally went to The Big E.

If you pay me enough, I'll sing these songs at a karaoke bar

There are probably a few songs that the right person could convince me to sing at a karaoke bar (who those right people are is the subject of another blog). But these are the three that I would pick from first.

My most favorite way of procrasinating is to answer questions like this on other websites, as long as they are not too personal

My 11 Favorite Doctors

The Doctor is known to have changed appearance...

I’m a huge Doctor Who fan.  Not just the news series, but the classic one as well.  I remember the first time I saw Doctor Who.  It was as a kid and one of the local stations used to play movies in the afternoon.  One of those movies was Doctor Who and the Daleks, starring Peter Cushing as the Doctor.  Granted, this was not really Who canon, and a remake of one of the William Hartnell stories.

So let me start over.

National Novel Writing Month

National Novel Writing Month.

In a number of my posts, I have mentioned either the National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo as it is more familiarly called.  Provided above is the link to the actual NaNoWriMo website for more information about the event and the charitable organization behind it.
