Picks of the Week
It’s Wednesday, and, as everyone knows, it’s comic day. Here are the books that really stand out
The Vault #1 (Image) – This book by writer Sam Sarkar and artist Garrie Gastonny focuses on a group of undersea explorers who seek to unlock the secrets of Sable Island, which holds secrets like Oak Island. The book ends with the team discovering more than just buried treasure hidden on the island.
Green Lantern Corps #62 (DC Comics) – As the DC books wind down to the relaunch in September, The Green Lantern books are still dealing with the aftermath of the War of the Green Lanterns. In this book, Kyle Rayner and Soranik Natu are pulled together by a Star Sapphire looking to take over a planet. Through this, Kyle has to confront a truth that he has kept from Soranik.
Secret Avengers #15 (Marvel Comics) – Black Widow takes center stage in this Fear Itself tie-in as she crashes into a tabloid website claiming to have information that Captain (Bucky Barnes) America is still alive. The story itself actually deals well with the idea of death for a superhero as opposed to death of a normal person. This is probably the best story I have read that has come out of the Fear Itself event.
